Sheesh! He can leave the turnip greens, but I'd welcome any of the rest! LOL!

Luckily, a WalMart Supercenter can provide you with breaded okra and catfish, and they used to have "country hams", although I haven't seen them in a while.

Fried okra is something that most Mainers would keep away from - to their own loss! It's one of the best things the south has to offer - (other than pretty girls)!

I like fried Okra, the pickled Okra is great too.

I have sent the package as requested.
I have no enemies, but I'm intensely disliked by my friends.

I worked with a man at the Augusta Home Despot (he still works there, I don't) who said the pickled okra is good fried.

    Default Southern Food

You can get fresh catfish at just about any Hannaford. Cabela's has a fried fish package which turns out quality fried catfish.

We do okra kind of tempura, lightly dusted with seasoned flour and it's terrific.

And I have a great recipe for southern fried chicken. I got this from the grandmother of a friend of mine from Roanoke VA. They don't give these family "secrets" up easily. I had to spend an afternoon with her grandchildren, not "cuss", call her "mam" and not use the word "democrat" at any time! She asked what my middle name was and used it a bunch of times while we were cooking the chicken as she felt I was rushing things!

My doctor says I have to avoid fried food. Nana Carter lived to be 94 and ate this great stuff everyday of her life. Pass the chicken please, I'll have another thigh!
Sometimes the road less traveled is less traveled for a reason.
