Good thing I'm not planning a trip to Florida any time soon. I'd be ticked off if I went down there with the intention of doing some caching and found my GPSr couldn't work.

The article and knowing how the satellites work, this is very interesting.

Unless there is some kind of satellite signal blocking transmission going on, which is illegal, shutting down a satellite or moving it or what ever they are trying to do. would not cause the effect they have mapped out.

This looks like a transmission that will block out the reception of all GPS receivers in the mapped out area, especially with the GZ point being where it is shown.

    Could be a hoax.

trhis is the time of the year the Navy does a lot of missle training and testing in the gulf. could be some sort of signal blocking test to protect the complete fleet or area of operation. and they are just covering their bases by saying the whole SE area.. testing does start as soon as most of the fleet leaves VA and heads south.

Man it is nice to think someone else is doing that and not me these day's. I can just stay home by the wood stove and watch the playoffs (even without the Pat's) and Daytona 500 in realtime not weeks from now when we pull in and see the tapes that people made for me. Pray that the guys down there stay safe.Remember the USS IOWA in 1989, 47 dead when a turrent blewup. That was the only time I even saw an Aircraft carrier travel at flank 3 , almost 50 MPH that if 4 1/2 acres at 50 MPH.

This has been stuck in my curious mind for a while. Checking some things and getting confirmations from various sources here is what is going on.

It is illegal to interfere with GPS, TV, or phone transmissions even for the government. Of course court orders can be obtained. No court orders have been obtained.

It seems very strange that such a wide area would be put in danger for so long a time. Flight paths being disrupted for a test like stated opens up way too much liability for any logical reason. Why endanger these flight paths? Why endanger them for this length of time over such a time period?

The signal strength of a GPS signal is very low. Tests have already been conducted with small hand held transmitters that can disrupt GPS signals for miles very easily. No logical reason for a test of this magnitude endangering and disrupting such a huge area.

Ham operators can tell you that a very powerful non man made signal is showing up along the lines of the GPS signals. These signals are not the ordinary whistle noise, it is much more powerful and unusual. Man made signals are easy to distinguish from others for even an armature ham operator.

Some other interesting facts along these same lines...

Late last year all the earthquake detection devices alerted to a tremor of the same strength at the same time. This can not be done by any man made means. No programing or signals can do this.

Since then Greenland had its sun rise two days early. Greenland is much like Alaska and other parts of the world where the sun does not rise for long periods of time. Much like the sun not setting. This has never happened before and since the date has been the same for a very long time it is a very interesting occurrence.

Also the north magnetic compass readings are 3 to 4 degrees off in one year. We all know the magnetic north is moving but 3 to 4 degrees in one year is huge.

Seems like the earth is going through some drastic changes and someone is trying to quash the excitement.
