Default recommended APPS for geocaching with a smart phone.

Me and the better half just joined the 21st century and got our 1st smart phones. When I looked up apps for geocaching there are pages and pages of them. I would like to use the phone as a backup to find cache listings when Heidi wants to do something else ( shopping) and I do not have any loaded up in the GPSr for where ever we are. Which apps would anyone recommend as being good for this type of use and it must be easy to use because us folks over the 1/2 century mark need it simple with this techy stuff. Oh and at the price I am paying for the phone plan I don't want to be paying a monthly fee to have a back up for my garmin so I am looking at the free apps. any suggestions will be appreciated. thanks.

I find that between the "Official" Geocaching app and c:geo I can find caches when I don't have the regular Gpsr's with me. They both have their own strengths and week points. But with both the compliment each other. c:geo is a free app and the Geocaching.com one is still $10.
    Happy Trails!
