Default RE: This has probably been asked before, but . . .

I was at a cache today and picked up at TB with the goal of visiting all 50 states. This particular TB has been in Maine for a while. Should I simply drop it off at the next cache or a newer cache in the hope that it may move out of state or is it permissible to go to a cache like the BIA TB Hotel where it tends to have a lot more action (and in particular out of state action) and drop it in . . . conversely if you drop one in, can you pick another up? If the answer to this is in the affirmative I would assume that you would simply not log this as a find, but only as a posted note.

You always want to log any TB that you pick up. And yes it probably would expedite the TB's travel hopes of getting to another state if it was put in a TB Hotel if there is one in your vacinity.Surely you can pick one up as well, that is the main point of all Tb travel Hotels to trade and pick up TB's with a definate goal in mind. I have dropped off many TB's in hotels in Portland and Lisbon. You can log it as a find as long as this was your first visit and if not, yes just post a note as to the drop or pickup. Hope that answers any questions

One of my pet peeves is that very few TB's have a note or card attached, indicating the owners' goal for the TB. Often you pick up a TB, get home and log it, and find out that the goal is completely opposite from what you're caching plans are for the near future.

Having said that, the main goal is to MOVE THE TB. No owner wants their TB to sit and wait for the one person who will move it to the next step on the trail.

Use your best judgement. And ATTEND GEOCACHING EVENTS as often as you can. This is a great place to exchange TB's and many times someone will be going in the right direction for the TB that you have.

When we get a "naked" TB, we'll often put it in a plastic bag with a note of the owner's intent.

So just to be absolutely, positively clear . . . I can re-visit a TB Hotel for the purpose of dropping off or picking up a TB as long as I only log in with a note and not a "Found It."

Just a cache where people can drop off and pick up TB's . There are 4 or 5 in Maine that I am aware of in Presque Isle, Bangor, Portland,Lisbon Topsham, and I'm not sure of any other places but thats just a few.

Has the bug visited Kentucky yet? I'm in Topsham and I'll be flying out to Kentucky this Sunday for a 1-week trip, and I know of a cache the bug can land in down in Lexington, KY (since I own the cache).

Let me know if there's any way to get it to me by Sunday, and I'll be glad to take the little feller along, as long as it's not something airline security would confiscate.
