Default Travel Bugs and retrieving them POLL

A discussion Atroll brough up about Travel Bugs:

    http://geocachingmaine.org/forum/showthread.php?t=839

I couldn't fit the whole question in the space provided, so really, the question is: Is it right to attend an event and literally pick up a travel bug and then place it back on the table and then log it retrieved from the event and then log it back into the same event?
Sorry, you can not add yourself to your own ignore list.

i think its cruel and unusual punishment to the TB, they're meant to be taken and moved, not picked up and fondled, there's no love in that, you can't just go for a 5 minute stand with a TB, if you pick it up you better be darn ready for the committment that goes along with picking up a TB.

A few TBs are designed to be used this way, often designed to go from event to event and have users sign them.

Other than that, I think it's up to the cache owner.

What gets me is the TB owners who will give their TB number to cachers from afar just so they can log it in and out of local caches and rack up miles. Some people need to get a wife .... errrr I mean life.

I feel if you pick up a TB at an event than the TB needs to leave with you and be placed elsewhere, unless, it has specific instructions to travel from event to event.

Amen to that. That hit the nail on the head as to how I feel.

I voted definitely not right, my sole exception would be if that was the sole purpose of the coin by the owner. If that's the case, more power to ya!
