Why I Love Winter in Maine

It's winter in the state of Maine
    And the gentle breezes blow,
    Seventy miles an hour,
    at fifty-two below.
Oh, how I love the state of Maine
When the snow's up to your butt.
You take a breath of winter air
And your nose, it freezes shut.
Yes, the weather here is wonderful,
So I guess I'll hang around.
I could never leave the state of Maine
'Cause I'm frozen to the ground!!!

I went to "The County" often over the 2 years my older son went to the School of Math and Science. I never saw much snow, but it was ALWAYS very windy, and what little snow you had was constantly blowing. Probably most of it was in New Brunswick! LOL!

well you see... the people "up that way" do have a lot of trouble with numbers... (and overexaggeration of measurments) but the real problem is that because the snow is always blowing around... you see all these county folk running around waving rulers and yardsticks in the air trying to measure the snow... thus you get the reports of 30 -40 inches of snow, when in reality theres only about 1 inch of snow laying on the ground

Sorry J, but somebody had to tell you the truth sooner or later...

Thanks for the poem - I love it! Now when I'm asked why I left Maine, I can recite this and add that it was that one week of summer in '85 when I managed to dig my way out.....
