    Winter in Maine

    The Diary of a Newbie

    DEAR DIARY

    AUG 12
Moved to out new home in Maine. It is so beautiful here. The mountains are so majestic. Can hardly wait to see snow covering them.

    OCT 14

Maine is the most beautiful place on earth. The leaves are turning all the colors and shades of red and orange. Went for a ride through the beautiful mountains and saw some deer. They are so graceful. Certainly they are the most wonderful animal on earth. This must be paradise. I love it here.

    NOV 11

Deer season will start soon. I can't imagine anyone wanting to kill such a gorgeous creature. Hope it will snow soon. I love it here.

    DEC 2

It snowed last night. Woke up to find everything blanketed with white. It looks like a postcard. We went outside and cleaned the snow off the steps and shoveled the driveway. We had a snowball fight (I won), and when the snowplow came by, we had to shovel the driveway again. What a beautiful place. I love Maine.

    DEC 12

More snow last night. I love it. The snowplow did his trick again to the driveway. I love it here.

    DEC 19

More snow last night. Couldn't get out of the driveway to get to work. I am exhausted from shoveling.

    DEC 22

More of that white thing fell last night. I've got blisters on my hands from shoveling. I think the snowplow hides around the curve and waits until i'm done shoveling the driveway.

    DEC 25

Merry Christmas! More friggen snow. If I ever get my hands on the person who drives the snowplow I swear I'll kill him. Don't know why they don't use more salt on the roads to melt the ice.

    DEC 27

More white thingy last night. Been inside for three days, except for shoveling out the driveway after that snowplow goes through every time. Can't go anywhere, car is stuck in a mountain of white snow. The weatherman says to expect another 10" of the snow again tonight. Do you know how many shovels full of snow 10" is????

    DEC 28

The weatherman was wrong. We got 34" of that white thing this time. At this rate it won't melt before this summer. The snowplow got stuck up in the road and that jerk came to the door and asked to borrow my shovel. After I told him I had broken six shovels already shoveling all the snow he pushed into the driveway, I broke my last one over his head.

    JAN 4

Finally got out of the house today. Went to the store to get food and on the way back a deer ran in front of the car and I hit it. Did about $3000 damage to the car. Those beasts should be killed. Wish the hunters had killed them all last November.

    MAY 3

Took the car to the garage in Town. Would you believe the thing is rusting out from that salt they put all over the roads.

    MAY 10

Moved to Georgia. I can't imagine why anyone in their right mind would ever live in that God-forsaken Maine.

Ya... but where else are they going to put the snow? I don't know... I have alot of road rage... A LOT. But think of it this way... people like them have been up (here anyway) for 48hours constant plowing the roads and putting sand down... not fun.

Wow! No... You must be kidding! You mean you REALLY have people that plow CONSTANTLY, and not just "once around and back to the garage"? Sheesh!

Well, since Caribou is the 5th snowiest city in the US, I guess they probably do have to plow it more than once. Cool!

By the way. What do you mean by "putting sand down"?

Once upon a time in the Kingdom of Heaven, God went missing for six days. Eventually, Michael the archangel found him, resting on the seventh day. He inquired of God, "Where have you been?" God sighed a deep sigh of satisfaction and proudly pointed downwards through the clouds, "Look Michael, look what I've made."

Archangel Michael looked puzzled and said, "What is it?" "It's a planet," replied God, "and I've put LIFE on it. I'm going to call it Earth and it's going to be a great place of balance."

"Balance?" inquired Michael, still confused. God explained, pointing to different parts of Earth, "For example, Northern Europe will be a place of great opportunity and wealth while Southern Europe is going to be poor; the Middle East over there will be a hot spot. Over there I've placed a continent of white people and over there is a continent of black people," God continued, pointing to different countries. "This one will be extremely hot and arid while this one will be very cold and covered in ice." The Archangel, impressed by Gods work, then pointed to a large land mass in the top corner and asked, "What's that one?" "Ah," said God. "That's Canada, the most glorious place on Earth.

There's beautiful mountains, lakes, rivers, streams and an exquisite coast-line.

The people from Canada are going to be modest, intelligent and humorous and they're going to be found traveling the world. They'll be extremely sociable, hard-working and high-achieving, and they will be known throughout the world as diplomats and carriers of peace. I'm also going to give them super-human, undefeatable ice hockey players who will be admired and feared by all who come across them." Michael gasped in wonder and admiration but then proclaimed. "What about balance, God? You said there will be BALANCE!" God replied wisely. "Wait until you see the loud-mouth ba*****s I'm putting next to them."
