Cool Visiting for a couple of days, suggestions

    Hi all,
I am finally getting back to Maine for a couple of days and looking for suggestions for a few caches. Will be driving from Moncton to Portland via Airline Road. Then visiting Kittery, Freeport, Augusta and Bangor. Any must dos?

    Thanks dragonflys

In the Waterville Area I particularly liked the following caches:

Shawmut Fishing Hole: A quick, easy cache which was also very scenic.

Boxboard Mill: Pretty little area with some fascinating history.

Waterville Rotary Club: Another quick cache and very scenic along the river. Also in the area of the other caches.

Acer: I haven't done this one, but it's right in the area of the other caches if you're looking to pull just a short ways off the highway to nab some caches.

These are a bit further off the highway, but interesting caches nonetheless.

Head of Falls: Scenic walk along the river. http://www.geocaching.com/seek/cache...0-29f697dae2c9

Old 470: A very challenging and well camouflaged hide.
    http://www.geocaching.com/seek/cache...f-652d896456bf

Outer Limits: Haven't done this one yet, but the cacher is a veteran cacher and it's in a nice area.

Right in Plain Sight: Again, I have yet to do this, but I understand it can be a bugger and it's in a nice area and close to the Head of Falls Cache and Outer Limits cache.
    http://www.geocaching.com/seek/cache...2-d051e0c91ecf

Fort Halifax: A historical cache site located next to the other caches.

There's a few other ones in the area as well -- these are just some of the ones that are grouped relatively close together. You can punch in the zip code for Waterville --04901 -- to bring up some of the other ones.

One of my favorite caches in the area is the Perkins Cache as it can be challenging and is a very picturesque spot: http://www.geocaching.com/seek/cache...3-89e4db480177

    In the Bangor Area:

You Sank My Battleship: This can be a time-consuming cache, but it brings you to some great spots in Bangor and the final cache site is tricky and well worth the time spent to find this one.

Joshua Chamberlain: This is actually right across the river in Brewer, but I like this one for the historical aspect.
    http://www.geocaching.com/seek/cache...d-fa0e594b0822

Indian Trail: If you opt to do the Joshua Chamberlain you might as well do this one as well since it's a quick one and close by.

Cascade Park: Located in one of Bangor's prettiest pocket parks.

Maine Hop: No caching stop in Bangor would be complete without stopping by the City Forest which has several caches located there. This is a quick and easy one.

In Freeport be sure to check out Muggletown Shuffle In the Portland Area - Mission Impossible
I'd really rather not cache, but I am helpless in the grip of my compulsion!

I second Gobler's nomination of Mission Impossible, It is one of my favorites in the Portland area. You can grab Fort Williams cache while you are there too. Another great cache in the Portland area is Presumpscot Falls Park "River of Many Falls". Great walk along the river with a great view of the falls from high above.

For sheer entertainment, I'd recommend ANY of LaughingTerry's puzzle caches.

I've just figured out the coordinates to his "Outer Limits" cache, and even having a hint as to how to figure it out, it took me a while! LOL!

Just do a quick search on Zip code 04901 and you'll be in the area.

Just a note to anyone going to do the Boxboard Mill cache GCGFM2 , it is now archived. I am thinking of putting one back there in the very near future though so keep your eyes peeled.
