I think adding camouflage to a cache container shows extra effort on a cache hide and makes the cache that much more memorable. In the case of ammo boxes, camouflage makes them a little less military-like, which might make non-cachers less likely to think it is a bomb or an old box full of shells...

I've only put out two regular sized caches. One is near an airport. As such, I left it naked. Well, naked in the sense that I put a large green geocaching sticker on it, and wrote "geocache" all over the box. Plus some of the local gardarme cache, So I do not believe that it will be blown up. I discovered one of Mapachi's caches in the Vaughn Woods in Hallowell that I am still in awe of. In Eustis he told me that it's made of duct tape. How anyone got duct tape to look like that is beyond me!!
