The pig may be out this year. We just have to much going on to have a pig, but I think Hiram will be here so I guess we will have a pig. Maybe fireworks instead for those that stay the night.

Sheesh! How can you have a pig roast without a pig??? Rick - if you need a donation to help with the pig, count on me! (Pork fat RULES!)

We would really love to have a pig to roast this year. To be quite honest the pig and the cooker cost over $300. At this time we are shy that amount because Tink has been out of work for the last 6 months for medical problems. She has recuperated now but we need to build up our funds again before we can do something like this again. Unless we can come up with at least $300 then it looks like we will be looking at other options.

I love a pig roast, and I see no reason why the event sponsor should bear the cost of such a big production. How about taking a poll... See if people would be willing to pay to attend - say $10 per adult couple, and $5 for kids?

I think a fee for all that we get is reasonable, unfortunately we need to go to Danforth and back on July 12th to pick our 12 yo up from camp. I am so bummed. Maybe I can swing late in the evening

Unfortunately, the idea of having a fee is a deterrant for some cachers....some plain can't afford it, especially with the gas prices, and others contribute in other ways. I think this is a great event and encourage Rick to do it again. He has already stated that money is an issue, so if any of you are in a position to help with that, email him for his address and send him a check. Just do it.

I will never charge a fee for attending any of our events. I am totally against that. I do not think that there should be a fee to attend any event. That is just my opinion though.

As Cache Maine said it would detour people from attending the event and I am all about promoting geocaching not turning people away. That was the whole reason for having the pig roast for the last two years. It was about promoting geocaching and trying to get more people involved. O and also to get all out geocaching friends together.
